Fitbit Inspire 3, an affordable fitness tracker

The Fitbit Inspire 3 is an affordable fitness tracker with a color AMOLED screen and an excellent battery life, proving that good things do come in small packages. In an era of massive smartwatch screens and rising living costs, this low-cost small tracker is ideal for people wishing to take their first steps into fitness without a gigantic showy gadget on their wrist or a large dent in their budget. In an era of massive smartwatch screens and rising living costs, this low-cost small tracker is ideal for people wishing to take their first steps into fitness without a gigantic showy gadget on their wrist or a large dent in their budget. Whether it’s one of the best Fitbits for you depends on what you want from a wrist-worn tracker. Despite its small size, the Inspire 3 performs well in all areas and lasts for more than a week between charges.

It isn’t as feature-rich as some of the greatest fitness trackers, but if you want to record your sleep, gain insights into your sleep, and track your workouts, the Inspire 3 could be the perfect pick, all in a low-cost package.

Fitbit Inspire 3 : Design and Screen

The Fitbit Inspire 3 is nearly identical to the Inspire 2, with a slightly wider and longer main device and a similarly shaped, but slightly altered, silicone band. It retains the sleek and light look and feel of its predecessor, and like that device it’s  very comfortable on the wrist, and easy to use for most activities. The silicone grips your skin to precisely the correct degree to avoid uncomfortable motions when exercising, though it may pull a few hairs if you wear it too tight. – it is suggested for the most precise heart rate measurements.

The Fitbit Inspire 3 is the first Inspire to feature a color display, which is impressive given that it did not appear to reduce battery life throughout our testing. The display is extremely brilliant, and it includes an always-on display option that allows you to view the time and step count without waking the device.

The display is extremely brilliant, and it includes an always-on display option that allows you to view the time and step count without waking the device.

Its lightweight and tiny dimensions allow for smooth integration into your training and daily routines. For example, while swimming, it felt as if I wasn’t wearing a watch at all, as compared to when I was wearing my Garmin. This is a significant advantage for a wearable, especially for individuals who are not accustomed to wearing a monitoring device while exercising – and especially in the pool, where some may feel scared entering with a watch for the first time.

The main unit is slightly wider than the Inspire 2, but that makes no difference to its lightweight nature – the Inspire 2 weights 8 grams while Inspire 3 is 17 grams, which is still ridiculously light. Some may still find it too small for scrolling through the various options or reading post-exercise data, but you can also view your data in the Fitbit app on Your phone, where everything is organized plainly and naturally.

As with the Inspire 2, two haptic buttons on each side of the main unit can be used to wake the device and display the home screen with the current time. This is very useful since unless you choose the ‘auto wake’ option, the Fitbit’s display will not wake automatically when you raise your wrist (to avoid disrupting your sleep at night with its high brightness).

Fitbit Inspire 3 : Price and Availability

The Fitbit Inspire 3 was made available in September 2022 and costs $99.95. Many Fitbit devices saw price drops in late 2023, but the Inspire 3 remains at its launch price, though it is frequently on sale for roughly $75 at various retailers.

The tracker itself is only available in black, but you may change the style with one of three interchangeable bands: black, lilac, or morning glow. When you purchase the Inspire 3, you will also be given the option of a Small or Large wristband.

It also comes with an exercise clip for attaching it to your clothes or sports bra. It includes all of the Fitbit fundamentals, such as step counting, sleep tracking, and workout recording, in addition to a heart rate monitor.

It’s the most basic tracker in the range, with features similar to the fashion-focused Fitbit Luxe, but if you can go without the health monitoring sensors included on the Charge 6, it’s a cost-effective option.

The Fitbit Inspire 3 costs less than $100 and tracks your heart rate, steps, calories, Active Zone Minutes, stress, SpO2, and sleep. You may create six workout shortcuts on your device from a list of 21 different workouts, including running, walking, kickboxing, Pilates, tennis, and golf.

While exercising, you can scroll data on the display to get real-time feedback, however it’s a difficult task on such a little screen. I preferred to begin the activity, then attach the tracker to my sports bra and review the data later on the app.

You wouldn’t want to prepare for a marathon with the Inspire 3 — I found the touchscreen unresponsive with wet hands — but because it lacks GPS, it’s not really meant for such hard training.

I tested the Inspire 3 for a 30-minute Peloton cycle alongside my Apple Watch 7, and the heart rate data was identical between the two. Both reported an average heart rate of 142 beats per minute, with the Apple Watch showing 168 and the Fitbit reading 163.

Fitbit Inspire 3 : Battery Life

According to Fitbit, the Inspire 3 should last 10 days between charges. I was curious how this would hold up to the color display, and it did fairly well. With the always-on setting enabled, I completed at least one workout per day for a week, finishing with the tracker at 10%.

Pretty decent going, especially considering I charged my Apple Watch 7 every night in that period (maybe this is an unfair comparison – the Inspire 3 lacks built-in GPS, thus tracking activities do not reduce battery life as much as the Apple Watch 7).

Obviously, turning off the always-on display would have extended the tracker’s battery life, but it is still outstanding. It also recharged from 10% to full battery in just under two hours.
