If you want a strong flagship that you can use with one hand, the iPhone 15 Pro is the one to get. The titanium design is not only tougher and lighter, but Apple also made the design smaller with fewer bezels. You also get powerful cameras with night mode and portrait improvements, lightning-fast performance from the A17 Pro chip, and a clever Action button. Unfortunately, the extended 5x zoom is only available on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The iPhone 15 lineup from Apple has proven to be one of the most significant updates in quite some time. There are some minor design improvements throughout and a lot to love.
Though the iPhone 15 Pro Max has the most advancements this year, not everyone would like to use the largest phone available. Fortunately, the standard iPhone 15 Pro is still a capable device in its own right.
RELEASE DATE AND PRICE OF THE IPHONE 15 PRO
The iPhone 15 Pro will be released on September 22nd. The iPhone 15 Pro’s starting price remains $999 for 128GB of storage, the same as Apple charged for the iPhone 14 Pro. I would have preferred to see 256GB as standard for a phone that offers 48MP ProRAW images and ProRes video capture, but 256GB is available for an additional $100.
If you need more storage space, the 512GB option costs $1,299, and the 1TB option costs $1,499.
DESIGN OF THE IPHONE 15 PRO
On its surface, the iPhone 15 Pro look like last year’s iPhone 14 Pro… which look like the two generations before it. Since the iPhone 12 Pro, Apple has maintained the same design with the triple-lens camera system, frosted matte rear glass, and stainless steel frame. However, the stainless steel made the Pro models heavy, making them difficult to use for extended periods of time.
With the iPhone 15 Pro, all of that changes. Apple has changed the stainless steel frame with brushed titanium, and the difference is noticeable. The iPhone 14 Pro weighed 7.27 ounces (206 g), while the iPhone 15 Pro weighs 6.60 ounces (187 g). I held both my previous iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro in each hand, and the iPhone 15 Pro definitely seems lighter. Even when it was in a case, the iPhone 15 Pro never felt too weighty to hold.

The titanium frame also has more rounded corners that seamlessly match the front and back glass. As a result, there are no longer any sharp edges that dig into your fingertips after lengthy use, resulting in a much more comfortable feel. Though I still prefer to keep my iPhone 15 Pro in a cover owing to my butterfingers, the overall new design has made it much more comfortable to use even without a case.
ACTION BUTTON ON THE IPHONE 15 PRO
It’s time to turn off the mute button. It has been replaced with a new Action button on the iPhone 15 Pro, which by default toggles Silent mode on and off with a long press. You can even feel the vibration in your pocket to know what mode your phone is in, so you don’t lose anything. A quick press reveals the current ringer status.
Things get a lot more interesting after you enter the Settings app, where you can use a simple interface to assign lots of shortcuts to the Action button. You can use the camera, flashlight, voice recorder, magnifier, and other tools. Some settings allow you to tailor activities within an app. For example, I tried using the Action button to launch directly into a selfie.
If you want to be very creative, you can utilize your iPhone’s Shortcuts app to set very specific tasks. You may activate any program (I tried Spotify), initiate a text with a specific contact, or get your robot vacuum from the pool. The main drawback to the Action button is that you can only assign it one action at a time. I hope Apple gradually opens everything up.
iPhone 15 Pro display
The display on the iPhone 15 Pro is as stunning as ever. However, because Apple did not make any significant improvements from last year’s iPhone 14 Pro, there isn’t much to say about it, as it is nearly identical to its predecessor.

|Max brightness (HDR)
|Delta-E (lower is better)
The iPhone 15 Pro retains its 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a 2556 x 1179 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 460 pixels per inch (ppi). Because it’s a ProMotion screen, it has adjustable refresh rates of up to 120Hz and an always-on display. The average brightness level is 1,000 nits, 1,600 nits for HDR content, and 2,000 nits for peak outside brightness.
The iPhone 15 Pro screen is wonderful for viewing content. Colors are accurate and well-saturated without being overly saturated, as on Samsung phones. The text is clear and concise. With a refresh rate of 120Hz, scrolling is incredibly smooth, and all animations are flawless.
PERFORMANCE OF THE IPHONE 15 PRO
The iPhone 15 Pro is fast, thanks to its A17 Pro chip, which should come as no surprise. However, what this CPU enables is more important than its benchmark scores.
The A17 Pro, the world’s first 3nm processor, claims 10% greater CPU performance, up to 2x quicker performance in machine learning tasks (think autocorrect, on-device Siri interactions, and so on), and up to 20% faster graphics performance with its 6-core GPU.
This GPU also supports ray tracing, which provides console-like lighting and reflections in games, which I tried in Diablo Immortal, where I followed enemy footsteps to battle over a dozen enemies on screen at once. The action never slowed, and everything from the moonlight reflecting off puddles on the ground to the electric charges coming from my fist wowed.
iPhone 15 Pro cameras
The iPhone 15-Pro comes with a number of impressive camera upgrades, including a physically larger main 48MP sensor that captures 24MP photos by default. You can always go higher with 48MP ProRAW photographs or save space by using the HEIFF format.
Because it can detect depth information in your images, the iPhone 15 Pro allows you take portrait shots without entering Portrait mode. With a tap after shooting, you may modify not only the depth effect, but also the point of focus. Night mode also receives a Photonic Engine upgrade, resulting in even better low-light photos.
However, Apple made some software upgrades to the cameras this year, which undoubtedly assist. For starters, the main camera will now default to 24MP photos rather than 12MP as it did last year. This implies that each image has greater detail, but it also means that the size and resolution are slightly larger, so keep that in mind. You can still convert it back to 12MP if you wish, so at least Apple provides you the option.
The battery life of the iPhone 15 Pro is impressive
The iPhone 15-Pro has greater durability than the iPhone 14 Pro, but not enough to make our list of the greatest phone battery life.
The iPhone 15-Pro lasted 10 hours and 53 minutes on our battery test, which included continuous web browsing at 150 nits of screen brightness. That’s roughly two hours longer than the Pixel 7 Pro and 40 minutes longer than the iPhone 14 Pro. 11 hours or more is considered outstanding.

In terms of charging, we saw a rate that was faster than Apple’s promised 50% capacity in 30 minutes. A drained iPhone 15-Pro Pro reached 57% in half an hour with a 20W adaptor and USB-C. Other Android phones, such as the OnePlus 11, provide even faster charging.
IOS 17 IPHONE 15 PRO
The iPhone 15-Pro runs with iOS 17, and there are a few noteworthy features for me. NameDrop, for example, allows you to share your contact information with another compatible iPhone or Apple Watch with a single tap. It’s almost like magic.
StandBy mode, which turns your iPhone into a little alarm clock whether docked via MagSafe or just turned on its side while charging over USB-C, is also one of my favorites. This performed great with a Belkin dock, but the magnetic connection wasn’t strong enough.
